SUMMER / GUIDE THE GROWTH
June in an
unheated greenhouse.
Regular small checks keep climbing crops manageable and help you spot changes early.
Three priorities
- Check tomato ties and train climbing crops as appropriate.
- Ventilate against overheating and check root-zone moisture.
- Inspect flowering crops and follow variety-specific care.
Before you start
Cordon and bush tomatoes are different. Check the type before removing sideshoots.
Check which crops are actually present, their stage of growth and the instructions for their varieties. Move a job if its conditions are not met. A blank harvest record is more useful than an invented success.
A useful five-minute inspection
Look at moisture, temperature and new growth. If foliage looks damaged, inspect both sides and take a clear photograph before deciding on a treatment. Water the growing medium only when needed.
