SUMMER / OBSERVE & PICK
July in an
unheated greenhouse.
If summer crops are established, keep care consistent and pick only what is ready.
Three priorities
- Inspect fruits for harvest readiness and record actual pickings.
- Check supports, ties and root-zone moisture.
- Plan late salad sowings where space and variety suitability allow.
Before you start
A harvest is recorded when it happens. The calendar never assumes a crop succeeded.
Check which crops are actually present, their stage of growth and the instructions for their varieties. Move a job if its conditions are not met. A blank harvest record is more useful than an invented success.
A useful five-minute inspection
Look at moisture, temperature and new growth. If foliage looks damaged, inspect both sides and take a clear photograph before deciding on a treatment. Water the growing medium only when needed.
